Since the beginning of 2010, we have seen a lot of hiring at both MD and Associate/Analyst levels. The most active sector remains FIG but it is interesting to note that sectors which were hurt in the "CC", such as Consumer & Retail, Financial Sponsors and Real Estate, have responded well and are hiring again.
Last year, financially strong players and independent advisory boutiques attracted top professionals but this year, 2010, the large global investment banks seem to have regained their appeal. On the compensation side, Guaranteed Bonuses are back, and not only for Directors and MDs but also for VPs, which always helps!
All in all 2010, has been, and will remain, a transition year where the shape of many teams is going to change.
The Investment Banking practice is looking to build up long term relationships with both its clients and candidates.
